It is especially famous for its large herds of free-ranging African elephants, often photographed with the snow-capped peak of Kilimanjaro in the background. Besides elephants, the park hosts lions, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and over 400 bird species. Amboseli offers excellent game viewing and is a vital conservation area, balancing tourism, wildlife protection, and the traditional lifestyle of the local Maasai community.
